TRUSTS & ESTATES ADMINISTRATORS

Julie E. Scala
Julie is a trusts and estates administrator with the firm, focusing primarily on estate and trust administration, including probate fiduciary accountings, estate and fiduciary tax return preparation, and estate tax returns. Julie also administers life insurance trusts for our clients. Before joining LeBlanc & Young in 2015, Julie spent 15 years in administration with a major telecommunications company. She is a 1996 graduate of the University of Maine, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and a 1998 graduate of the University of Arizona, where she received a Master of Science degree in Physiological Sciences. In her free time she enjoys playing sports of all kinds and spending time with her family.

Nathan Pike
Nate is a trusts and estates administrator with the firm, focusing primarily on estate and trust administration, including probate fiduciary accountings, estate and fiduciary tax return preparation, and estate tax returns. Nate graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey with degrees in Creative writing and Criminology. After completing his undergraduate studies, Nate attended University of Maine School of Law in Portland, where he obtained his Juris Doctor, focusing on taxation and trusts and estates. Outside of work, Nate enjoys playing basketball in local leagues, playing tennis, and golfing when weather permits. During the winter months, Nate enjoys writing, reading, and playing cribbage.
PROBATE COURT PROCEEDINGS & SPECIAL PROJECTS PARALEGAL

Irene M. Tower
Irene’s paralegal duties include conservatorships, guardianships, MaineCare planning, formal Probate Court proceedings including modifications, interpretations and other disputes, legal research, and special projects. She has worked in the legal field since 1984, with a primary focus in estate planning and probate.
Irene earned her paralegal certificate in 1995 from the University of California Santa Cruz Extension, where she later served on the faculty, teaching estate planning and probate. She served on the Executive Board of Santa Cruz County Legal Professionals Association for over 10 years, and was Probate Examiner for Santa Cruz County Superior Court from 1998 until moving to Maine in 2003.
LEGAL SECRETARIES

Barbara E. Hunt
Barb is a legal secretary with the firm, and has been a professional secretary since 1979. Prior to joining LeBlanc & Young, she worked as a Judicial Secretary for the Maine Supreme Court, as Executive Secretary to the Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies at Saint Joseph’s College, and as a legal secretary at a large Portland law firm.
Barbara has served as Chair of Lake Region High School’s Project Graduation Committee, and coached girls’ softball in Naples for several years.

Renee B. Lockhart
Renee is a legal assistant with the firm. She comes to us with over 20 years of customer service experience. Prior to joining L&Y, she was a Paralegal with a focus in elder law, estate planning, probate matter and MaineCare applications. Before getting into the legal field, Renee worked as a project coordinator for a national architectural software firm. In her free time, she enjoys nature, live music, and spending time with her family and dog.
